FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions

What are these badges? Why people love them so much?
These badges are pretty much an extension of the driver's personality. They represent what the person likes, does for a living, loves doing or feels identified with. People love to collect them and they are not afraid to put more than one on either side of their rig! What do you love? Have you found the badge that represents your personality or passion the best? If not, let us know and we will design it for you at no extra cost. Contact us HERE with your idea!

How many badges do you get when you buy just one for $18 (Round) or $20 (Rectangular/Honor Badge)? What is the special price when you buy 2 or more?
Our Badges come in singles, not sets. If you add just one to your cart, you will get one single badge. Depending on your personal taste you would want to put one on each side or maybe just one on the driver side. We have customers that want 2 and customers that just want 1. We also have customers that have multiple badges! The creativity is unlimited and there are no specific rules on how many badges you should put on your rig!

We have an automatic discount during checkout when you buy 2 or more badges. The price will drop down to $15 each, or $17 each if it's a Badge Of Honor. The good thing about this discount is that they don't even have to be 2 or more badges of the same design to qualify for it!!!

Can you custom make a badge for me? Even if it's only 1 or 2?
Yes! Unlike other companies that require you to purchase about 100 badges of the same design, we can custom make yours with no minimum order required and at no extra charge!

Simply send us an email using the contact form on our website HERE and let us know what you have in mind, once we get your email we will reply with a proof or if we have any questions we will ask you a couple of things such as what image would you like to use for your custom made badge.

Make sure you check your junk mail folder if you haven’t heard from us within one day. We usually reply to you within hours. We are quick!

As a side note, keep in mind that the simpler the design the better it will be to appreciate it when the final product is made. If your design is too small or too intricate it will not look as good. The bigger the image the better.

I want a custom badge but I don't have a design? Can you help me?
Absolutely, at no extra charge! We can take care of it for you.

I own a shop, do you offer wholesale pricing? Or do you offer discounts if have a group/club and want to place a bulk order?
Yes, we do. Depending on the size of your order we can work something out. The bigger the order the better deal we can offer you. Please send us your inquiry HERE.

Are they the same size as the Trail badges?
Our round badges are pretty much the same size and thickness as the badge that comes with your vehicle.

Our Honor badges (the rectangular ones) are the same thickness as our round badges and they are slightly smaller, not really by much, than the one you earn when completing certain off-road trails. Also, our honor badges are built in one piece, they do not come with any sort of plastic base.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please keep in mind that these are custom made badges, they are very similar to the ones in your vehicle but they are not 100% identical. These are just novelty emblems and are not associated with any vehicle manufacturer or brand.

As you can see, the round badge fits here, in case that you want to replace yours:

What are your badges made of?
Our badges are made out of an outdoor & UV rated high quality polymer material (super resistant automotive plastic) with a beautiful engraved top layer.

This means they are meant to be outside and resist the elements (rain, snow, sun, dirt, etc.) without potentially rusting like some all-metal made badges could.

Also, since they are not made of metal they do not reflect the sun or any other source of light, allowing the badge to show the design at all times (see image below)

In case you are still not sure and you are still wondering:
Are Loot Designs badges made of metal?

The short answer is no and neither is the one that comes with your vehicle (at least not 100% metal) or pretty much any other vehicle, unless it is one of those classic/collectible cars that used metal badges back in the day.

All those emblems that you see on pretty much any vehicle are made of plastic. The fact that some of them have a chrome finish doesn't mean they are metal. Do not get confused because some seller on the internet says "our badges are real metal like the original one", that is not true! Most vehicle badges are not 100% metal.

Currently, there are about 30,000 parts in a vehicle, out of which 1/3 are made of plastic. In total, about 39 different types of basic plastics and polymers are used to make an automobile. More than 70% of the plastic used in automobiles comes from four polymers: polypropylene, polyurethane, polyamides and PVC.

Plastic has become one of the key materials required for the structure, performance, and safety of automobiles in recent years, with growth in plastic consumption being driven by light weighting trends for fuel efficiency and consequently lower greenhouse gas emissions.

The high absorption properties of plastics also allow the vehicle to meet stricter safety standards, while the use of engineering plastics allows for minimization of the mass of parts used in vehicles as they offer more design freedom compared to metals.

Rest assured, our badges are awesome. Our customer satisfaction rate is about 99.99%.

AND JUST IN CASE! If you are still wondering. Do our badges LAST? Are our badges GREAT QUALITY even-though they are not "metal"? -  Your answer is: YES, YES, and YES.

These pictures might give you a better idea. These are from a very good customer that has been buying badges from us for a few years now! Enjoy........

Loot Designs badges LAST!

I have seen some other company that offers all metal badges but they only have about 15 different designs and Loot Designs has about 700+, how is this possible?

Great question. The reason why these companies only have about 10 designs is because they don’t make their badges in-house. They use 3rd party companies (vendor, sometimes form China) that make the badges for them and the reason why they only have such limited amount of designs is because they have to order about 100 or more badges of each design in order for those vendors to be able to make them because it is a long process they have to create a mold and so many other things that they won’t make just one.

We can make 1 at no extra charge pretty much any design you want. We have over 20 years of experience as graphic designers and we are GREAT at it! We will show you a proof to make 100% sure you are satisfied with the way it looks and once you approve it, we will make it and send it your way the same or next business day. That is why we can offer SO MANY badges and that is what differentiates us from the rest!

Are the badges vehicle specific?
No they are not, we can custom make any badge you want. 4x4, 4x2, sports car, truck, sedan, motorcycle, toy, anything you have in mind! It doesn't have to be the same style or design that you see on our website. If you have something in mind we will turn it into a badge! Please send us a message with your idea HERE.

How can I attach the badges to my vehicle?
Our badges come with 3M tape on the back. Simply peel off the backing paper and attach them anywhere on your vehicle as long as it is a clean flat surface, especially for our 2-layers/3D badges to avoid any potential separation of the top layer.

The area you choose for the badges has to be cleaned with soapy water and then with rubbing alcohol. If the area is dusty, greasy or it has residue of wax or any other cleaning products then the adhesion might be compromised. Also, if it's too cold outside, it is recommended to warm up the area with a hair dryer.

TIP: After removing the backing paper, gently place the badge on your vehicle and make sure it is aligned and straight. Once you are satisfied with the way it looks tap it and rub it with your hand to finally secure it. The reason why we ask you to gently place it on the surface is in case you need to adjust it, it will be easier to move around until you find the sweet spot!

How can I remove the badges from my vehicle?
So, you decided that you want to remove a badge. Now what? Don't worry! It is a simple task that requires little time but you cannot rush this to avoid any damage to your vehicle.

The tools you will need for this job is a heat gun (it is under $20 at Harbor Freight or Amazon) and a plastic tool without any sharp edges that you will use to pry the badge and carefully pull it out.

NOTE: Using a heat gun can cause burns to your skin. BE VERY CAREFUL or use protective gloves!!!

  • Put the heat gun in the MAX setting and start heating up the badge for about 45 seconds and about 1inch away from the badge. Do not let the heat sit on one spot for too long to avoid any paint damage, even though you will be heating up the badge and NOT the vehicle directly.
  • Once you see the silver color on the badge becoming "sweaty", this means the badge is getting to the right temperature for you to be able to remove it
  • With the help of a plastic tool, carefully try to bend/pry the badge out of place. It is best to do it from the top and once the badge pops out, you can finish the rest easily but CAREFULLY because it will be VERY HOT
  • If you are not sure you can do this, get professional help to avoid scratching or damaging your vehicle. We are not responsible for any damages you or others could cause to your vehicle for trying to do this.

Can I move the badges around if I want to?
Our badges use a very strong 3M double-sided tape and once they are attached to the vehicle they are not meant to be moved around. That's why we recommend to barely put them on the surface of your vehicle and once you are 100% sure that it is straight and in the desired spot, then you can go ahead and press firmly with the palm of your hand for a few seconds to permanently secure them in place.

If needed, you can remove them (watch the video above) but chances are you will damage the badge when doing so. However, you could take your time and if you are careful and patient enough you might be able to save them and reuse them.

If you were able to remove the badge without damaging it, you should be able to reuse it but you have to wait for it to cool down and become hard again and then you can go ahead and clean the back of the badge thoroughly with rubbing alcohol and replace the double sided tape.

If you want to make your badges "moveable" you could go to a craft store and buy a magnetic sheet and attach it to the back of the badge and turn it into a "magnet". But, be careful, the badge may fall off while driving or during a car wash.

Can I go thru car washes without my badges falling off?
Absolutely! Yes you can, as long as you cleaned the area prior to attaching the badges you are good to go!

Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we do, we have sent badges all over the world. Depending on the size of your order we could upgrade your shipping method for free to a quicker one (UPS) but normally they are shipped out using the USPS and can take somewhere between 2-6 weeks to arrive to you. They all include tracking number.

Our international packages are insured but we cannot claim the insurance until they are considered lost, which is 40 days for USPS and for UPS it will depend on when they consider it lost but it should be quicker than USPS. Once we file the claim you will have to fill out a claim form in order for the claim to be fully processed, if you do not file the form the claim will not be completed and we will not be able to send you a replacement free of charge.

Please keep in mind there might be Brokerage, Import, Duty and/or Tax fees associated with your purchase. These fees are set by your local government. For questions on how to pay those fees, if there are any, please contact your local authorities.

What is the difference between the shipping options? (USA only)

First Class: This is our base/flat rate shipping option. Your order goes USPS First Class with tracking number and should take somewhere between 3-5 business days to arrive depending on where you live.

Expedited (RUSH): Expedited shipping option is the same as First Class but it also includes a RUSH status which means, your order will go on top of the production line so it can get produced and out the door as soon as possible. Most of the times same or next business day.

Priority + RUSH: This is the fastest way to get your badges produced and shipped out. This option includes a RUSH status which means your order will go on top of the production line so it can get produced and out the door as soon as possible. Most of the times same or next business day. The shipping method we usually use for this one is UPS, however, if USPS Priority delivery time is much faster than UPS ground; then we will use USPS. - Please keep in mind UPS does NOT deliver to P.O. Boxes.

NOTE 1: Badges and/or Decals will ship out together in the same package. Orders also containing T-shirts/Apparel will be shipped out separately once they are produced by our vendor. Please allow a few extra days for the T-shirts to be produced. Our badges ship out quickly, but the T-shirts take extra time and we have no control over this process.

NOTE 2: Sometimes the Post Office, and very rarely UPS, do not deliver the packages on time. This is something we do no have control over and we cannot do much about it. Once your package has been dropped off, it is up to the mail carrier to deliver it on time. There are multiple reasons why your package could have been delayed and even though we really wish this wouldn't happen, sometimes it does happen but it has nothing to do with us. We work hard to get your badges out the door as soon as possible but unfortunately we depend on the mail carrier to finish the task.

What should I do if my package hasn't arrived after a while?
This is a good question. We put a tremendous effort to get your badges produced and out the door as quickly as possible, most of the times they are out-the-door same or next business day. On perfect circumstances after we drop off your badges at the post office it shouldn't take more than 2-5 business days to arrive, however, there are some cases where the packages seem to take longer, and in a few cases MUCH LONGER (a few extra days or even weeks).

The short answer to this question would be: Please contact your local post office immediately.

There are a few reasons why your package may be delayed. According to our experience these could be:

1) Post office didn't scan the package and it is moving within their network and it seems like we never dropped it off. In most cases your package shows up at your local post office within a week or two without a single update in the tracking number and it only updates when it is out for delivery.

2) Package may get stuck somewhere in between us (Colorado) and you (Anywhere in the USA or the World). In most cases the package sits there for a while then it starts moving again. Usually when this happens they update the tracking number to something like "you package will arrive later than expected".

3) Your package was sent to another state due to a sorting error. This is a rare mistake by the post office sorting department but it has happened. They catch this error 99.99% of the time and re-direct it to you. This slows down the process but usually ends after a while in your mailbox

4) Package stops moving somewhere during transit and sits there for a month! - This is a VERY rare case but it has happened as well. Most of the times it starts moving again and in very, very, VERY rare occasion it just never moves again to the point that we consider it lost. IF this ever happens, do not worry, we will take care of you but we have to wait at least 20 business days in order to open a case with USPS and try to locate your package.

5) If your order is marked as delivered and you didn't receive it, this could be due to many reasons such as: a neighbor might have it, the mailman marked it as delivered by mistake and will deliver it the next business day, somebody in your household got the package and didn't tell you, it is hidden somewhere near your front door, it got stolen, it's in between a stack of junk mail, you provided the wrong address or wrong house/apartment number/zip code, etc.

Please note that if you already checked all the possible reasons mentioned above and still don't have your package, we could send you a replacement order at our own discretion as a one-time courtesy. This will be a one-time exception, per customer and not per order, no exceptions; and once again, this will be at our own discretion which doesn't necessarily mean that we will send you a replacement as soon as you contact us. Our regular protocol would be to file a claim and then it is up to the courier to make their own investigation and determine if they will approve the claim or not.

Also you will be requested to fill out and sign a form stating that you didn't receive the package so we can file a claim with the courier and follow their requirements because mail fraud is a federal crime and we take it seriously and we don't want to file missing/lost mail claims if it is not strictly necessary. Thank you for understanding.

6) Package was out for delivery and then it never updated again or says something like "we couldn't access your location". This has happened a couple times before and this could either be because the mailman did not scan the package and marked it as "delivered" and it is sitting inside your mailbox or because the mailman for some reason didn't have enough time to deliver it and will try again the next business day OR because he/she didn't have access to your mailbox or your mailbox was full and the mailman decided to either try again the next business day or leave it in front of your door.

Please check everywhere to see if  you can find it. If not, please wait to see if they deliver it the next day but it is a good idea to contact them ASAP and ask them why they didn't deliver it that day.

7) Your address is incorrect. This is a rare case but it has happened a couple times where our customers enter their own address incorrectly and the package either gets delivered to a different location or it gets sent back to us. PLEASE when placing an order check and double check that your address is correct.

If your package gets delivered to the wrong address we cannot do anything about that. If it gets sent back to us we will re-send it to you, and depending on the size of your order we will send it again for free or charge you a new shipping fee.

You could try and contact your local post office to see if they can recover it or re-direct it back to you but we don't even think that is a possibility.

NOTE: Please keep in mind, whichever is your case and if it is listed above or not we cannot control what the post office does after we drop-off your package. We do our best to get your badges out-the-door as fast as possible and these type of scenarios are out of our hands.

Please contact your local post office and provide them with your tracking number to see if they can offer you additional information other than the one showing on their website when you enter the tracking number.

We cannot locate your package or tell you when it will arrive if it has been delayed, but, what we can tell you is... worst case scenario do not panic, we will take care of you but we have to investigate first and wait a little bit to make sure your package has been lost then we will proceed to replacing it and providing you with a new tracking number.

If you entered a wrong address during checkout then there is really not much we can do for you other than maybe offer you a small discount on a new order.

If you still have any questions regarding your order/shipping please contact us at info@lootdesigns.com

How do you ship the badges in the USA?
They are shipped using USPS First Class service with Tracking #, usually it takes somewhere between 2-5 business days depending on your location. If your order is big enough, we will upgrade it to Priority Mail 2 Day.

Are these badges made in the USA?
Yes! Our badges are designed and made IN-HOUSE in the USA. We are located in Colorado.

Where can I see pictures of the badges? All the pictures I see on the website are computer images
Due to the high number of badges we have and since we are constantly adding new designs pretty much daily, is it easier for us to upload computer generated images of the badges to keep a consistent and clean look throughout the website, but you can check out this picture to get a better idea of what our badges look like (customer supplied pictures)

Can you add color to the badges?
It all depends on the design. Some designs are compatible and some are not. The key to this is "the simpler the design the better".

What we do to add color to the badges is changing the background color. To see an example please check out our DUCK RATED badges and it will show you some of the colors we carry and also a great cutout/see thru option where the color of the vehicle would be used as the background color of the badge to have a perfect color match!

If you don't want the original Silver/Black combination and you want to know if we can make yours with background color, please send us a message with your question HERE and we will let you know.

It has rained so much, or I went off-roading and my badges look a little dull, what can I do to make them come back to life?
Great question, you can use any of the popular brand plastic/vehicle restorer products and they will shine again like day one.

A good product is the Back to Black cream by Mothers. A little dab goes a long way. First, clean your badge with soapy water and rinse it, then apply the product with a microfiber cloth in a circle motion, let is sit there for a minute or two and remove the excess.

Do this every time you wash your vehicle or at least every three months (or more often), depending if your vehicle sits outside or you've gone off-roading recently.

Properly maintaining your badges, and your vehicle in general, will prolong its lifespan.

What is your return policy?
We have a 5-day return policy, which means you have 5 days after receiving your item to request a return. Please email us at info@lootdesigns.com with your questions or concerns prior to sending back any item(s) or your return won't be accepted.

If you qualify for a Refund please send back the item(s) to us and provide a tracking #. Customer handles and pays the shipping costs to send the item(s) back to us. You will get a refund for your original purchase amount minus the original shipping cost and a 20% re-stocking fee after we receive and inspect your return.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

To start a return, you can contact us at info@lootdesigns.com. If your return is accepted, we’ll send you the address to return your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted. Customer takes care of the returning process, this means you will have to pay to return the item and provide a tracking number to us, this cost will not be included in your final refund.

NOTE: Not only we highly suggest that you use a shipping method that provides a tracking number but we also recommend that you add some sort of insurance as we are not responsible if the package gets damaged or lost in transit.

Exceptions / non-returnable items
Certain types of items cannot be returned, custom products (such as special orders or personalized items. For example, custom made Badges that were not originally on our website and you asked us to design/make for you). Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items, gift cards or wholesale/bulk orders.

Exchanges
If you ordered the wrong badge and would like to exchange it for another one, please make sure that you are within the 5-day exchange/return period and that you send us an email notifying us that you wish to exchange a badge.

Exchanges could be handled two ways, please make sure that you choose either one and let us know:

1) You send the item that you wish to exchange back to us. Please make sure that you provide us with a tracking # and also that the package is insured in case it gets lost/damaged during transit, as we won't be responsible for this. Once we receive the item back, we will send you the replacement and email you the new tracking #.

2) If you want to receive the correct badge faster and don't want to wait for us to first get your incorrect badge back and then send you a replacement, it would be better if you place a new order for the badge that you actually want and send us the other one back (with tracking and insurance) and once we receive it, we will process a partial refund which would be the cost of the badge that you wanted to exchange minus the original shipping cost of the order.

Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded the cost of the item (minus the original shipping costs and a 20% re-stocking fee) on your original payment method. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
